Should You Use a Silencer?

A Facebook friend challenged me to write a poem/song that fit with this title, so I spent about an hour throwing this together.

Life became a fight to win;
the day is dark, the air is thin.
Every noise a din, profound
as your feet hit the ground.

Run and turn, look and breathe;
your only wish a sweet reprieve.
Everything will end if only you will
follow through with the final kill.

Hurry, quick, he's gaining fast!
Running, jumping, spinning past
each car and person and pole
that may just delay your role.

Churning, speeding, racing thoughts
of murder have your stomach in knots.
When you go to shoot this islander,
should you use a silencer?

Browning 1910, 9 millimeter short,
suppressor ready to fire at the port.
Everything needs to follow the plan
just as it has since it all began.

Stalls and crowds scattered about
slowing you down, you want out.
You bump a vendor table on the right
and apples tumble with all their might!

The man behind you is overcome
when an apple hits his scrotum.
Without delay you sprint ahead
thankful for the release from dread.

Sensations heightened to the max,
your speedy feet avoiding cracks.
When you go to shoot this islander,
should you use a silencer?

Docks and ships and boxes surround
what will soon become your battleground.
Pursuer slowed down from the pain
in his groin, yet he's determined to gain.

The warehouse door is open and shut,
you take your place and wonder what
the islander will do when he gets inside.
Even this building is nowhere to hide.

He enters cautiously and scans the room,
not knowing that he entered to his doom.
Your Browning fires one, two, three shots
that will stay in head and heart until he rots!

Your flight and battle has been won
By a small, trusty, silenced handgun.
If you again need to kill an islander,
you know you will surely use a silencer!
